Need we say more? Oh, go on then...

Heggs is a wild and unkempt 136-acre farm-turned-renaturing project located between the villages of Reeth and Langthwaite at the northern edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Stretching from the wooded banks of the Arkle Beck up to the dizzying heights of Fremington Edge, it's a wonderfully varied and off-the-beaten-path spot, where peace and quiet are your only company for miles.

Our site is open to adventure-seeking families and small groups on a limited basis from May to October each year. And in line with our low-impact ethos, every booking is for exclusive use of the camping area.

    About Heggs-Castle

Heggs joined forces with two neighbouring landowners in 2019 to form the Heggs-Castle Cluster; a collaborative approach to nature restoration across a combined 200-acre site. Our aim is to maximise biodiversity by restoring natural processes; thereby building more resilient ecosystems.

To date, we have planted more than 33,000 trees and hedging plants, undertaken an extensive program of natural flood management works - including the creation of scrapes and leaky dams - and continue to work with and learn alongside multiple local partners and not-for-profit groups in the pursuit of our ambitions.

We're grateful for ongoing support, funding and advice from the following organisations: Tees-Swale: Naturally Collected, Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust, Yorkshire Dales National Park, Woodland Trust: Growing Back Greener, Yorkshire Dales Millenium Trust, Sustainable Swaledale, Yorkshire Rewilding Network.

Our passionate, hard-working volunteers are also invaluable in helping us to make a real difference on the ground. Thank you!
